1/25/14 About Place Journal just accepted my non-fiction piece "Dangerous Heat 1974" about a race riot at Southern High "back in the day".

11/11 The editor of Small Print Magazine has asked me to write and produce a quarterly column for writers, using the craft books by John Gardner as inspiration; tentative title for this column is "Thor's Hammer" (my idea) and the first pub date will be sometime in early 2014.
11/2 My long story "Spectrum 13" was accepted by Blue Lake Review for publication in April 2014. Been a long time shopping this one, as it's over 7500 words! Hooray.
10/28 I've been asked by The Poetry Society of Tennessee -- Northeast Chapter to give a reading in February.

10/17 Editor John Mannone of The Silver Blade has nominated my poem "The Elixir" for the international Best of the Net Anthology 2013.
10/10 THEMA just accepted my poem "Snooze Alarm Alligators" for their Summer 2014 issue themed "A LOT can happen in ten minutes!" Happy!
9/30 My poem "Ahab's Day" has been accepted by VAYAVYA for their winter issue, for publication in December 2013!
8/14 The Key West Literary Society has awarded me $600 in scholarships for the workshop/seminar and free shared lodging for the week... So plans for January are shaping up nicely. Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes!!! And thank you Helen and John Maier and Liz Rosenberg for the lovely reference letters!

5/22 "Smoke Signals Over Long Distances," a poem of mine, has been accepted by Brevity Poetry Review for mid-July.
5/18 Eunoia Review just accepted a piece of my fiction called "Fizz and Blending" for their November issue: yay!
5/11 "The Elixir," a poem, was accepted by The Silver Blade for next month. I recorded an MP3 of it at Northeast State's recording studio for their website.
5/9 "Night Journeys in a Cardboard Boat," a poem, has been accepted by Third Wednesday and will appear in their upcoming issue.

At the Key West Literary Seminar 2014, I was honored to read from my poetry and prose. As well as the seminar, I attended the Advanced Fiction workshop hosted by the novelist Susan Shreve. I'm grateful to the KWLS for the scholarship and to Northeast State for paying my travel expenses. I met some wonderful people.
